Does anyone know what's with the trees wearing "sweaters" on 16th Street?

    Could be this group:

Or the sweater went to Freddy's to knit its ass off.

There is a thread on this from a couple of years ago somewhere; think this is it. They must be back.

Usually this is the work of Knitta Please (http://www.magdasayeg.com/about_knitta_please_magda_sayeg.html) but they tend to do large scale installations and announce their presence, and get local knitters to contribute.

I think this is just the work of some random knitters having fun. I'm a pretty passionate knitter/fiber person, and haven't heard of anyone participating in this, or an event.

    I do love knitting graffiti.

actually, the 16th street tree-sweaters are knitted by a woman who lives in their vicinity on 16th street. i've met her, she's lovely. not part of any group, just a cool woman who makes sweaters for trees.

Like the unibomber, she acts alone.

exactly. though, unlike the unibomber, i don't believe her actions are peppered with malice
