Mailboxes on Fifth--Where's George?

Could anyone please tell me if Mailboxes on Fifth is currently open? They are on 5th Ave between Lincoln and Berkeley (or Degraw and Sackett). I've been calling all day without any luck and he doesn't have voicemail. I even called Arecibo to ask if they would check for me, but they wouldn't. I'm in Manhattan or I would walk over myself.

Thanks!

Somehow it does not surprise me at all that he wouldn't answer the phone

He probably has a cigarette in his mouth, is faxing a document, accepting a shipment and talking to himself all at once. I'm almost sure he's there, with his pomeranian, like always.

I dropped by around 3pm and the gates were closed. I didn't go close enough to see if there was a sign or anything on the window.

I live nearby and I know he has a package for me, so I'll drop by a little after five and post an update.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it. I do believe he is closed. He's usually very prompt to call when a package is delivered, but according to Fed Ex my package arrived mid-day Monday and I still have received no word from him yet.

So, I dropped by -- there's no sign on the door, but I spoke to the very nice woman who runs the eyeglass place next door. She said he hadn't been in all day, and of course people were dropping in her place to ask if George was ok.

She hadn't seen him, but said he'd had a bad fall last week, so might have had some pain today, as it's really unusual for him not to show up.

She said if he didn't show up tomorrow, she'd drop by his apartment to check on him.

So, looks like he's closed today -- hopefully he's ok, just feeling under the weather.
