Safety and Price advice

I am starting a new job in East New York and I am not familiar with the area. I was looking for advice regarding neighborhoods to look in to find an apartment that will be not too expensive (my job is more like volunteer work) and where the area is safe. I will be living with all girls and we are young so we want to feel safe walking in the area.

Also, if anyone knows the best place to start looking for this apartment (craigs list, village voice, just walking around, etc?)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

maybe something like ridgewood, the halsey stop on the L train.

probably cheapish and safe and not too far a commute to east NY.

my best advice is to find another job.

I would live in CH, then take the LIRR from Nostrand Ave to ENY.

It's expensive, but it is a wonderful reverse commute.

Depending on where you are you can find some decent residential blocks around Pine St or Drew St. Especially if the job isn't far off Linden Blvd. If you're going to be working in the industrial park area around Liberty Ave you're probably better off trying to find a place in a private house. Don't move anywhere close to the housing projects as that area wouldn't be desirable.
