Bank that sucks less than Chase

Is there a bank that sucks less than chase? I won't go on a rant about their absolute lack of customer service on the phone (branch is not too bad but I shouldn't have to go into the branch each time I need something done), general incompetance, etc. Is TB bank across the street any less awful? Citibank? Bank of America is out because of their involvement with the mortgage catastrophe.

I'm paying a fee to use non-chase ATMs anyhow, so atm availability is not an issue. I would like decent telephone customer service and web site. Availability of a branch is not so important.

are you or any family members military? If so, USAA is an amazing company and I have never disliked an interaction I've had with them.

My stepbrother is in the army, perhaps that would qualify. I'll ask, thanks.

I was a member of Capital One for about two years. They took close to 2 grand from me in overdraft fees. Still debating suing them in small claims court. Compared to them Chase is a dream come true.

Charles Schwab. I've been with them for three years now and they are fabulous. I was with Commerce for five years before that but when TD bought them out, they changed my TOS and started charging all sorts of fees. Then it was nearly impossible to quit them-I had to go back to the original bank where I'd signed up for an account which was in another state. AWFUL. So then a friend recommended Chuck Schwab. They are entirely internet and phone-no branches-but it hasn't been a problem at all. Amazing customer service and they reimburse all ATM fees. I get about $30 back a month. Plus they have decent interest rates.

I'm also a USAA member and have several accounts with them but I bank with Schwab.

I like banking with Etrade. No fees and I'm reimbursed for all atm withdrawal charges.

Yeah -- if you can get USAA they also reimburse for ATM charges.

I use USAA for insurance, but HSBC for banking.

I'm under the impression that most banks with a physical presence are competitively sucky.

I have a bunch of accounts with Citibank, and I'm very happy with it. I go into the branches only to make deposits or to use the atm's.

The online banking websites are extremely useful, and the telephone support people are terrific.

Because my mortgage is with Citibank, all of my checking and savings accounts are completely free. So all told, I'm pretty happy there.

I'm going today to close my account, I'm tired of the fees.

Agree. One of these days I'll get around to joining a credit union
