Enjoy this video about a guy who got a ticket for riding his bike outside of a bike lane. It's pretty funny.

one of the biggest dicks and douches are cops, much hated as lawyers in nyc. wonder why they don't put cameras in cop cars :p.

lol at the end him crashing into everything is really stupid just to make a point.

I wonder if he's going to get a ticket for intentionally harming city and private property? Regardless, I believe the PO may have been wrong on this one. Bikes are vehicles and are allowed full rights and privileges of the road just like cars. Bike lanes present or not.

Bicyclists are required to use a bike lane when it is available and unobstructed. While there are often obstructed bike lanes we have no idea what the condition of the bike lane in question was. If you fail to use an unobstructed bike lane, it's highly likely that you will have your day in traffic court.

In L magazine this week there is an article about a class action lawsuit against the NYPD for ticketing bicyclists for breaches of laws that don't exist or don't apply to non-motorized vehicles. There are even cases where NYPD officers block the bicycle lane with their squad cars then ticket cyclists for riding around them.
