Anyone have any insight into why there has been a recent uptake in 4 am fireworks around pacific and nostrand? and, perhaps more importantly, when i can expect to be able to sleep through the night again?

My guess is after 4th of July> These boys enjoy noise and celebrate the fact that they have no jobs and you do. My personal most hated celebration is the 1 fire cracker every 20 minutes - all night long. They must die!!

Maybe you can start photographing them in the act and sending the info to the police. I am trying this method.

I had lowlife crack dealers infesting my building on Lincoln between Washington and Underhill for many years. During the late 1980s they would sit in front of the building with a garbage bag full of M-80s (Block Busters, extremely loud) and light them off One by One. ALL NIGHT LONG. Every single night during June.

I was poor, the only one working in my building, recovering from serious surgery, unable to sleep at all, and living in hell. The corrupt Buddy Boy cops were useless. Things are yuppified beyond belief now, and the block is much quieter. If you hear a tiny firework pop it's an exception, but I will never forget the dreaded Junes of years past when these cretins made my life miserable and robbed me of my sleep. I always figured they enjoyed the echo of explosions reverberating inside their empty heads.

OMG!! I'm a light sleeper and I therefore wanted to kill those idiots! First the firecrackers, then more firecrackers, then a loud conversation, then more firecrackers, another loud conversation, then a lone firecracker and finally the damned chirping of the birds since it was now daybreak! [-X Not cool.

Tsarina's right. Happens every year leading up to the 4th of July and will quiet down after that.
