PERCH BAR

hey board... i'm a (female) bartender at perch cafe, which is on 5th ave between 5th and 6th streets (next door to ginger's)... and business is sucking b/c people don't realize it's a bar at night. and it's an awesome bar, actually, with a great selection and low prices. obviously this is a plea to get people in, but know that i have no stake in the business end - i'm just bored out of my skull and would love to have a fun night tonight. there's live music. and a garden. i'll wear a tight shirt... hell, if you mention this posting, i'll buy you a drink just for coming in. stop by and check it out, willya? do it to be neighborly. do it because you care.

thanks xoxo meredith

Guys, listen to Meredith and hasten Perchward! Believe me, if you're 30 you'll propose marriage. If you're 50 you'll say "Have I got a son for you!" And even if you’re a white-haired 67, your pen finger will twitch at the thought of writing a reference letter for her resume. (Has a bartender ever dropped what she’s doing and come over to compliment your selecting the lemon cake?)

I am not a regular as I write now from afar, but as you Slopers have no such impediment, listen for that last laptop to click shut and check out the après-strollers Perch.

I am, but I wonder if Meredith would really be interested in my 2 1/2 year old?

And, if you're gay? Then what?

First of all, I can't believe what a sweet message that was, Lew!!! Btw - I have since had a piece of the lemon icebox cake and you were absolutely right: it's divine.

Second issue: Well, half my friends are gay. I was a musical theatre major, for crying out loud. Come on in and join the gang. And if that's not good enough... we have some super cute baristas who play for the other team. Definitely worth a peek ;)

Thirdly: I don't really date the preschool set. But thanks for the offer.

My new days are W, Th, and S starting July 5th... the drink offer still stands...

I've not been in the evening, but have begun to frequent Perch in the morn. Love it, love it, love it. And, no, I don't have any vested interest.

I was looking for a new bar on 5th Avenue between 1st and 9th Streets last weekend and must have walked right by it. What kind of signage do you have? Can you get a male bartender -- straight and attractive -- to wear a tight shirt too?

OK ... tried perch. what's the deal? no service, I order food and you bring it out to me? Horrible system. I have to stand there at the counter, ponder over the menu ... and then wait out back for you to bring it to me? And when you bring my coffee, i just have to get up again, walk back into the place and do my little cream & sugar routine? Why do they have to be so different? I found it quite annoying, the reason I go out is to be waited on and get a little service. I also found the kid at the register that told me how much the blueberry cake in front sucks, to be quite annoying. i won't be going back, too many other options in the neighborhood. maybe that's why the place was pretty empty.

Doh... I knew that was the place when I looked at the photo but throughout this whole thread I've been thinking Perch like the fish and not been able to picture it. Silly me...
