Police in front of Sunset Park on 5th Ave and 44 Street

Does anyone know why there were 5-6 police officers on 5th Ave in front of the park around 6::30 or 7PM tonite? I have noticed increased police presence in the neighborhood but this looked like more than usual. Did anything happen in the area today? Thanks.

There was a homicide on 7/4 on 50th. That would be the increased presence, but don't know of anything on 44th.

It was a gang related shooting. You be surprised how well connected the Bodega owners are. If you ask they may tell you. There are a row of apartments on 4th in the 50's that is known to house many gangs and facilitate a lot of drug activity

Well thanks for that info I will stay away from there. And maybe the police should be on it too.
