Does anyone know how to get in touch with Armando who until last week worked at Connecticut Muffin on 7th Ave in Park Slope?

Was in there this morning, and many customers were very upset, myself included, to learn that he was fired after 11 years! I heard that that he disagreed with the major changes they implemented. Btw, the changes are really stupid, and now produce a long wait. Sorry, I don't know how to get in touch with Armando, and doubt that any one in there will be forthcoming. The new workers there are jokes.

Completely agree. He was fantastic and the new changes are terrible.

I ran into the owners and tried to get the story from them but just got that the new changes were made for "efficiency" (ironically involving the loss of their most efficient employee, by far) and that "Armando decided to move on."

Any business that shows such a good employee that little loyalty doesn't deserve loyalty from me, either. If Sweet Melissa or Starbucks were smart, they'd track Armando down and hire him -- he's probably the only guy who would bring his own book of business.

Anyway, I really hope someone knows how to get in touch with him, but thanks for the reply.

Is he the tall, older, black gentleman? He always seemed so...dignified. I haven't been recently, so I don't know about their changes but I hope it's not him. He is an institution, and you are right about a competing cafe hiring him, imo.

Are you kidding? If it is the older black man, I cringed whenever I got him, he was slow as molasses and clearly gave no f. Good riddance.

You're describing Tom. Armando is younger and I believe from Mexico.

Luther is right--Tom is the older gentleman, and I hope that he'll be OK in the new way of running things. This is horrible. I am REALLY upset to hear about Armando--he was so funny and personable, and frequently had my order ready when I got up to the counter. Does anyone know how to reach the owners so we can let them know how upset we are about this?

The owners sometimes can be found hanging out in the store, at the end of the counter. I think their names are Yassir and Mohammed. I hope you have better luck than I did.

What kind of changes did they institute? I only go on the weekends and I've been away a lot this summer. What do I have to look forward to?

They switched to an 'order here / pickup here' system. Not earth-shattering, but it's slower and less personal. Major change is that Armando isn't there anymore. He was really friendly & efficient, with a kind of amazing memory.

I grew up in Connecticut, and I can tell you that the muffins sold at that establishment are not in the authentic world-famous Connecticut style.

The thing that always annoyed me about CT Muffin was that the muffins just weren't very good. How hard can it be to make a decent muffin? It's just a big hunk of cake.

I go there maybe twice in a month – always with my daughter and only sometimes with my son. My daughter can never decide between banana and blueberry. My son doesn’t like blueberry but sometimes would eat banana. Whenever we walk in all three of us, the banana muffin is waiting. Whenever its just me and my daughter, he asks her what it will be today – blueberry or banana.

I am far from a regular, but that is some great customer service that you would expect (although rarely find) in a neighborhood place like this

Hi there. I am also a former employee of The Muff, I was also discarded along with Armando. I still talk to Armando on a regular basis and would love to assist anyone in getting back in touch with him. The abrupt discharge truly upset him and he was absolutely not ready for it.
