New TV

I remember some discussion on a site to buy good quality TVs to ship but I honestly cannot remember where I should buy my new one. Anyone?

I bought my last one on Amazon. The first one that got delivered had some slight screen issues, but they picked it up and brought a new one with no problem and no extra charge. Also, if the price drops within either 30 or 60 days of purchase, they'll refund the difference (but you have to notify them).

My brother said to get Sony, Samsung or Sharp. Amazon didn't have great prices for them.

Try J&R on 7th Ave in the Slope or any Best Buy. Or, you could go to the Sony Center in Manhattan and take down a model# to shop around with.

I got a good price on an LG that I like quite a bit. I don't watch a ton of TV, but I'm a media geek and wanted something that looked good for the price. Just make sure you get a set with a high dynamic contrast ratio.

I got my Panasonic Viera LCD from J&R... While still processing my order they updated the site with a cheaper price for the model I bought. I asked them to match it and they did. Delivery was fast.

I researched Sony, Samsung and Panasonic, for my price range and for the size I wanted the Panasonic had the best reviews. Just stick to the major brands it's not worth it to buy off brands when it comes to expensive items like tv's.

Also make sure you get an extended warranty.

Which J & R? The small store on 7th Avenue in the Slope or Music World in lower Manhattan?

I ordered it online after checking out a few stores and doing some online research.

J&R on Park Row has an online store as well. J&R in the Slope is strictly in-store.

I strongly urge against using J&R. Their return policies are miserable, and even if they seem reasonable, they make your life miserable when you attempt to return anything.

By and large, most retailers are the same, it's just a matter of who's having what sale, and more importantly, how customer-friendly the vendor is.

Newegg and Crutchfield are great options.

As a general rule, I personally have found Sony to be the best flat screen LCDs, following closely by Samsung. Sharp is probably good too.

I've had a 40" Sony for years now and I love it.

I purchased a Sharp Aquos a few years ago at the PC Richards by Atlantic Center (Flatbush & 4th Ave). I was generally happy with the price an service at the time.

I also have a Sharp Aquos, which I purchased directly from Sharp through a "friends and family" promotion that a friend of my daughter's emailed to me. I got a terrific discounted price, and I'm really very happy with the television.
