Shots fired?
Sounded like someone squeezed off a few 22LR's, from the Prospect Heights direction. Several police cars headed that way.

bohumaIt was in the basketball courts next to Elijah Stroud Playground where there was a basketball tournament organized by Music is Life Inc (?) and sponsored by Half Court Sports Bar (Washington and Park). Someone was shot in the face. There are a lot of Police, Fire and EMTs on scene.

Shooting
Washington Ave & Sterling Pl
Brooklyn, NY
7/30/2011 4:46 p.m.On my way back from Franklin Park (7:10 PM), I walked by a police supervisor (aka white shirt) who was going into Teddy's on Washington to get some food.
He stated the individual is expected to live.

eastblocIt sounded like a .22, which is definitely what you want to get shot in the head with if you want a chance to live.
On the other hand .22 slugs have been known to bounce around inside the skull wreaking havoc rather than exiting cleanly.

whynot_31I am not certain I would want to be kept alive with a serious TBI.
I wish him well in his recovery.
...If he is lucky, he will get to go to Rusk.

chekhovianThe Prospect Heights Patch article linked above seems wrong. They say a 27-year-old was shot and I believe it's been confirmed a 15-year-old was shot.
Is there any confirmed link between the basketball tournament and the shooting or did they just happen at the same time?
This seems like a big deal - not the kind of thread that should degenerate into personal accusations.

sterio5the youngsters are doing most of the shooting in nyc..lolol smh these yutes are brutal
