Phoenicia has been declared a disaster zone. Saugerties has lost bridges and roads. People have been evacuated from other towns to Belleayere, and the town of Prattsville has been completely washed away. For those complaining they bought stuff they don't need, etc.. I have the solution.

PLEASE DONATE YOUR BATTERIES, CANNED FOOD, CLOTHING, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, DIAPERS, ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO THOSE STILL WITHOUT POWER IN UPSTATE NEW YORK!

They are looking for Red Cross volunteers as of this morning.

I have some friends who own restaurants and shops in the neighborhood, and am going to ask them if they can be a collection spot.

Thanks, I've been emailing folks this morning. Note that this drive is for pretty much everything! From babies to seniors and young kids who will not be starting school because the roads are washed out.

    THANK YOU!

    Chipster, please see your PM.

Cash is often what is most needed. One could donate to local United Ways, Red Cross, or a very local effort, WSRK radio:

Listen in today to our radio-a-thon, "Disaster Relief for Delaware County". "Please give to our friends and neighbors in Delaware County hit hard by the recent storm. Starting at 7am, call 1-888-432-1030.

Thank you but I am not dealing with Delaware County, and I am trying to do what I can do...which is collect surplus goods from Park Slope (stoop sales?) and bring them to Phoenicia, Lexington and areas in between where I personally know a family in great need. A single mother and her daughters, age 15 and 17, are on Rt. 42.

For those who have friends or family upstate, pls. see link below for road accessibility.

    Thanks!

    GOOD NEWS!!

My friend Karen Paperno, who owns Boing Boing in Park Slope is willing to be a drop off center. She also knows folks up there. She is setting up an account as of now.

    Please spread the word.
