Underground dining - supper club

Hi folks,

I was laid off two weeks ago (after 12 years) and have thought about starting up a supper club in Crown Heights. I see this as a new beginning as I always have enjoyed cooking for friends. I would love to get feedback from locals as to what they think. Honest opinions/suggestions, now matter how harsh, would be welcome.

The menu would feature good homestyle cooking, e.g. Roast chicken, beef stew, lamb curry. Three course meal would be around $25 or so.

Many thanks,

K

Thanks so much Jeremy, this link is really a help. I was concerned with invite, payment, exposure factors.

I'd try to spread word about it thru people you know first, rather thru a message board or flyers.

I'd want people to know what to expect to avoid confusion and upset.

Again - great advice. This is exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for!

    Thx

I don't have any advice for you but I did happen to pop into Island Thyme on the day [urn=http://gluttny.com/eatdrink/index.html]GluttNY[/urn] was doing its Eat It Before It Eats You dinner, and there was a pretty good turnout. But they had an exotic (and themed) menu and an actual restaurant as the location. Then again they also had a higher price point to match.

Sorry, that's supposed to say GluttNY

That menu really was very interesting. My genre of cooking will be mostly classic French, Spanish. Comfort food but with touch of class, so to speak. Food that will everyone's palate (I double checked the spelling of this!).

I was thinking I would start off with a "trial run". A few friends and perhaps some "locals" from this site. Just let me know if you are interested. I would intend to have this towards end of Oct. The cooking part, I have no fear of. The organization, invites - yes.

    Thanks,

    K
