New liquor licenses and renewals in Prospect Heights

This Tuesday, November 8, Community Board 8's Economic Development Committee will be reviewing a number of new applications and renewals of liquor licenses in Prospect Heights. Community members will have an opportunity to share their concerns.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30 PM at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 727 Classon Avenue, Brooklyn, NY (between Park and Prospect).

A. New liquor license applications:

    Chance of CB 8 being able to deny the vendor for Barclay's Arena a liquor license: Zero.

    Although the representatives of this entity must appear before CB8, in reality CB8 has no other authority in this instance.

    Gotta love meaningless rituals.

    If I were the applicant, I might be tempted to send my most junior person to attend.

    516 Carlton is not an address for the arena.

    It's a brownstone at the corner of Carlton and Pacific Street, that at one time had a bar on the ground floor. I don't think it's been there since the late 90s. From the owners point of view, this might be a great location for a bar since it's between the arena and the arena parking lot. Not such a great deal for neighbors, however.

    I vote we name the bar in honor of the parking lot.
