Is any one on Prospect Place btw. Carlton & Vanderbilt finding their water is brown (both hot and cold and toilet)?

Brown water here, too. Bergen and Flatbush.

My guess is it has to do with pipe work in the area. Possibly the Arena if they're digging up old water mains. Or some place else.

    Same as OP

As has been mentioned, this isn't unusual when work is being done. Run your water for a bit, and it may clear up, depending on how much is in the system and where.

Oh, FYI - toilet and the cold tap are the same thing, they just don't run through your boiler.

I think Idlewild is correct. For the past month or so we have had notices from DEP about overnight water shut offs (I am on Underhill). Finally I called DEP to ask why so many shut offs since I didn't see any work being done on Underhill. They told me that new pipes were being laid for the stadium.

We are also on Prospect near Vandy and I haven't noticed this today.

But thanks Ratner! Another 'present' from you....

As I drove up Atlantic Avenue (North/East bound) I noticed a slew of new water-main waiting to be installed. They were lying on top of the median/divider on Atl between Washington and Classon.

Thank you, very interesting about the new piping being installed. We don't see the signs about the water being turned off, etc., in this part of the neighborhood.
