Anybody know what was the deal with Eastern pkwy. blocked off today around the hour of 3pm? All the way from Bedford to Franklin, there were a bunch of fire trucks, the street was completely sectioned off with tape and I saw plumes of dark black smoke.

Just curious to know what happened. Thanks! Holiday Blessings to all!

    At the intersection around 7PM last night, we saw a few ConEd trucks (both north & south side of E. Pkwy), some ConEd workers with hardhats and a few areas cordoned off with yellow tape. Who knows why?

    Our neighbor was home and said that a manhole cover exploded sending it and blue flames/smoke into the air, and knocked out electricity in a building or two for a little while. Today there is a somewhat scorched rectangle manhole cover fenced off at EP/Franklin.
