President Prokhorov? A Russian head of state visiting here 200 times a year?

Wow, Prokhorov (and Nets owner) running for president of Russia. Imagine the security we're going to have to face if he wins or if he loses. How many streets will they close every time the Russian head of state visit? Or what if he loses, will he end up in jail?

I think being president of an international superpower trumps being the owner of sub-par NBA franchise. What makes you think he even needs to leave Russia to act as owner of the Nets? It's why teams have management.

You make it sound like he's a diehard Nets fan camping out for each of the games.

Prokhorov has been given permission to run for president of Russia, and to serve if elected, provided it does not interfere with his duties as owner of the Nets.

This takes Detente to a whole other level.

Okay! I was guilty of a slight bit of hyperbole. Still, my mind reels with the bizarre possibilities that would arise with a head of state owning a team in our neighborhood. Or maybe Putin will end up jailing Prokhorov, as he has done with other similar men. In any case, I can't imagine Prokhorov spending too much time managing the Nets.

Or maybe Prokhorov will pull more Putin-like stunts. What will he find diving in the Gowanus?
