No Parking signs everywhere and we can't think of why- anyone?

I've been out of town, completely out of the loop.

If you don't like the reason, are you going to park there anyway?

    I'm guessing film or construction.

    Clues:

#1 No parking on EP, Union, President, Classon, Washington, Bedford, others?

#2 PD (71) says it is a special event- they don't know what, but they are staffed for it from morning to evening.

So, it seems that many people have decided to ignore the signs and have stayed put. As I type though, I'm observing police tow trucks haul away everyone parked on President (btwn Classon and Franklin).

And now they're towing on the Parkway. City's gonna make a killing today.

Satmarathon Rebbepalooza at the Armory on Union and Bedford: Is that big enough to need no parking on all the streets you name?

Maybe it's the filming of the "Next Great Artist" or whatever the show is called on Bravo. The final show is at the museum. Production trucks get spread all over for that stuff. No clue other than that.

It is something bigger than that.

The perimeter of McNair Park is now surrounded by five police cars, and the several bored cops are walking around. There is a NYPD light generator in front of PH HS, ready to be fired up.

    dialogue

    WN: What's going to happen?

PO: Some celebration in one of these buildings.

    WN: The museum?

PO (smiling): I think the High School but another officer thinks whatever it is, is as far away as the armory. I'll be here all shift.

WN (smiling): Good to know your job makes as much sense as mine.

PO: You just do what they tell you to do without trying to make sense of it?

WN: Yes, as much as possible. You seem to be doing your job well.

    PO: (smiling) Thanks

WN and Dude leave the area.

    What was it?

The cops we talked to mentioned a 'Jewish celebration'- they had no details. Our street (EP service road) was barricaded off the whole night. We kept a watch out the window during that evening and saw nothing- no evidence of any celebration or any people at all. We live in front of the high school and we would've seen something.

It was really strange. Seems like a big waste of tax payer money.
