Holiday symbols at Grand Army Plaza

Historically, the Parks department has erected a Christmas tree at Grand Army plaza, but it did not this year due to lack of funds.

The Lubavitch folks use their own funds to put up a snazzy Menorah there.

Next year, Christians may be in the same situation.

I see no reason why those of us who celebrate Festivus should not fundraise for a giant, beautiful Festivus pole to join the mix.

I wouldn't ask to be in the middle of the arch. ...I think we could share space with a Kwanzaa display.

I wonder if the Lubavich get a permit, or whether they just put up the display.

I wonder if they would be willing to give me advice on my quest.

If you notice that Mayor Mike Bloomerg is the one lighting that candle, im fairly sure you can guess if they have a permit or not...

I will investigate getting a permit.

I will also begin recruiting people to run a puppet show for the kids.
