I've been pocking around the Brooklyn Collection at BPL, and I found an article from 1929 about trying to solve the traffic problems at the corner of Flatbush, Carlton & Park. Some things never change!

    "autoists"!

    Love it. Rhymes with "moists"?

It looks like we are in for more re-design:

The entire project involves turning the Flatbush Avenue triangles into pedestrian spaces, improving crossings, and adding open space, trees, plants, and cafe tables and chairs.

Some Traffic Engineers likely spend their whole careers studying and trying to improve Flatbush Ave for cars, pedestrians and bikers....

The re-design is going to screw traffic up. With cars now needing to make the right on 7th to make the left on Park, having enough space to fit 5+ cars per light is important as both the 7th Ave block (Flatbush and Park) and Park (Flatbush and 7th) are extremely short blocks. Reducing that block from two lanes to one lane is going to assure that the intersection will always be backed up 7th Avenue and on Flatbush.

Currently, I think folks can park on Flatbush except during rush hours 7AM - 10AM, 4PM - 7PM.

Eventually, I suspect they will get rid of parking on Flatbush altogether.

Can't see them getting rid of parking on Flatbush as there's too many stores and no other municipal parking.

They have gotten rid of parkng in other areas that meet that description.

Don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. The store owners there would be up in arms.

I think it will take a while.

The store owners on Nostrand were against the coming Select Bus Service, but were told that they lose.
