Mid Week Beer on Wednesday May 9th

Beginning in approximately 2005, some of the readers of Brooklynian began to get together off line to enjoy each others company and beverages.

As time has passed, these events have been large or small. The last large Brooklynian event was held in December 2011, and was attended by 25 people:

- characters who once posted a lot and now rarely post

- lurkers and newbies who have always wondered what we look like

.

- people who post only on occasion because they are generally productive, respectable members of society.

- and people who post waaaay too much like myself.

That said, a gathering of the aforementioned characters is in the process of being arranged via a new fangled, competing website known as "Facebook". The number of people interested seems to be growing, and you are welcome to join us.

I believe it is possible to attend. There is a beer that must be splashed on somebody, go back and find that in the thread somewheres, and mischief and choas should ensue.

Is there a FB page for this site? havent been able to suss it out.

Facebook does not allow near anonymous crowd sourcing, or the ability to revisit old threads. .... But It does provide a way for people who have met in real life to stay in contact with each other.

So far, 10 people have stated that they will be coming.

For what its worth, as of 1:00 PM Monday May 7th, this event now has fourteen (14) people who state they are coming. Twenty-four (24) people have indicated they "might" come.

i will be performing w/ my french rock n roll band later that evening but will try to stop by beforehand.

I would love to come by, but Wednesday evenings are my wife's night off, to escape the presence of our two young children (with whom she is otherwise with 24-7). As she has standing plans every week, I am loathe to have her switch nights.

Based on more RSVPs and maybes, I have revised my estimate of the number of people who will attend to "approximately 20".

I have warned the bartender at Washington Commons of our arrival.

Those who have never met us can simply approach the large group....

"Detective castle"!!! LOL!! Never heard it called that before! I wonder if any will come down from the turrets and join us lowly non-castle dwelling folk!

I first heard the phrase about 10 years ago, from a guy talking on his phone, walking just ahead of me:

"I'm almost at the museum. I'm passing the Detective Castle now."

I have called it that ever since.

I was unfortunately delayed. I assume you've all gone by now, given it's a school night.

Correct. 10 of us had two beers each..... None of the "maybes" appeared, and four of the people who stated "yes" changed their minds.

Beer continues to be yummy.

Sniffle. I'm jealous.
