hi, a cat followed me yesterday home in 8th. Avenue (between Montgomery & Garfield). Very friendly, with collar and bell/rattle but no ID tags. Took the cat to 6th. Avenue Animal clinic for an examination. It is a brown cat, very friendly, clearly domestic, about 7 years old, microchipped but not registered by owner, so impossible to locate the owner. I can't have him home (I have one dog and take care of others all the time), already checking with NYC cat & dog non-kill organizations, posted flyers, but no luck so far. The cat is at the vet clinic, tab is running already $200, and I need to find a home for the cat asap. If anybody knows about the cat or would be willing to house him, let me know.

thanks, Jose

It may not be impossible to locate the owner after all. Different vets use diff microchips, with any luck this kitty was microchipped locally so find out what brand of chip he has and start calling around to see who uses it. If you find one that does ask them if you can send them a pic of the kitty to see if they recognize him.
