Roma Gypsies on Subway?

Has anyone seen Roma Gypsies with children (or without) on the subway or at Fort Greene subway stations? I'm researching their appearance on NYC subways over the last year, particularly curious if they are part of some unofficial organization, why they (somewhat) suddenly seem common in NY. If anyone has insight that might be helpful, please let me know. Thanks!

I've spotted Roma in the Atlantic-Pacific crossing mezzanine. I've also seen them on the N and Q trains. Their appearance in NYC seems to run in long cycles. The last time I noticed them was in the late '90s in the F line & in Prospect Park. Theirs is a complicated lifeway and resists easy generalizations.
