Manhunt on Park Place

There has been a manhunt going on for the last 20min around park place and prospect place btw classon and grand. helicopters, unmarked cars, cop cars, cops running down the street at one point with the street blocked off. Happy Day light savings, so this is only waking us up at 1:30 and not 2:30. WhyNot, what's going?

yeah that was wild. there were tons of guys searching through backyards, and helicopters circling.

are there any twitter feeds for things like this?

They came racing down my end of Park Place b/w Rogers and Nostrand a few minutes ago

chopper overhead sterling & washington. nypd pulled into my lot as well.

I heard about a dozen gunshots three or four minutes before the chopper showed up...

Whynot was sleeping. Based on MG's post, it sounds like 1 is under arrest and one more is sought.

Hopefully, they caught to other guy, and/or he is in the hospital.

Huh, I guess I missed it I heard next to nothing just down the block on Nostrand and Park.

The NYPD helicopter was hovering extremely low - over the west end of block bounded by Park, Grand and Prospect Place for about 15 minutes, providing a spotlight (and probably IR spotting) to the ground-based PD.

Seems like maybe the shots were fired at Washington & Dean, and maybe one perp ran up Washington toward Park (the chopper manhunt) and the other guy down Dean toward Vanderbilt. Guessing second perp was the one apprehended, given the gun was recovered there.

Anyone know if the drug task force / former precinct house at Park and Grand is staffed 24/7? And can those guys respond to crimes happening right outside their door?

Judging by how many shootings take place right outside of the police-detective-castle, they either can't or won't respond to crimes happening right outside their door.

Any updates? That's pretty ballsy of the shooter firing a gun off in front of a cop shop!
