For those not aware, Barclays Arena is hosting Justin Bieber tonight.

Tweens are everywhere.

The owner of BkCake (located on Washington Ave in Prospect Heights) made him a Ferrari cake and got this shot of him about to eat the side mirror.

just got caught in the massive traffic snarl of teenie boppers being picked up by their daddies outside of Barclay's - and then we heard the shrieks. JB himself dancing in the window of his tour bus while girls literally threw themselves in front of the moving vehicle.

Expected traffic issues after Jay-Z concerts? None. Nets games? None at all. JB? Total mess.

walking back home from a restaurant on 5th ave south of the arena around 10:30. the bieber concert must have just let out because traffic was backed up for several block south on 5th and throngs of tween girls and their parents/guardians were streaming down the sidewalks, trying to get cabs, getting on buses, walking to and getting to their cars: i.e., trying to get home. gridlock and honking horns.

i walked up to flatbush and then down dean street toward my home on dean between 6th & carlton. there was a huge crowd of bieber fans massed on the corner of 6th & dean. at least several hundred, apparently waiting for bieber to get in his tour bus and leave. i kept walking home, embedded in a crowd of fans probably heading toward the surface parking lot on dean between carlton and vanderbilt aves. i went into my house. at about 10:45, i heard lots of screaming coming from dean street (if you've ever seen the girls lose it for the beatles, this was very similar). and, i could clearly hear all of this with my double-paned windows closed. very loud. so, i went to my front door that faces dean street in time to see what was probably his tour bus roll by with a police car with lights on trailing it, and the girls all screaming and running down the sidewalk. i regret not having a video camera handy. there were literally HUNDREDS of girls screaming and running after the bus.

I don't know what is more disturbing, the predicted traffic nightmare or that young women today are suckers for such crap. JB is NOT the Beatles.

The bedrooms of many tweens were plastered with these posters in the 80's.

    ...including my sisters'.

Having seen what The Bieber can do, the NYPD and the Arena staff are struggling to figure out how to control the crowds.
