tree planting / neighborhood clean-up groups?

I want to plant trees in prospect heights! or do something to add to our neighborhood!

does anyone know of groups around PH that do this sort of thing? or, if it doesn't exist, anyone want to help me start a group in PH that does this sort of thing...?

It isn't perfect, but...

We are in Brooklyn CB 8, and as you see, now is not the season for tree planting. Too hot.

Our coop has organized a gardening committee to improve the front yard of our building (on Sterling). If you are interested in maybe speaking with one of the folks on our Gardening Committee (to get ideas about what to plant and when, or to organize some neighborhood greening), send me an email and I will pass it along to them.
