Cigar Lounge opening Saturday on Washington near Dean

Called Blue Smoke Cigar Lounge, the cozy space is in the new build at 593 Washington Ave between Dean and Pacific, near Sapid Indian restaurant and Noah's Juices.

It's BYO - apparently that's how cigar bars skirt the smoking laws. The owner, Nick seems like a terrific guy, and although yours truly doesn't smoke...it's nice to see some investment in "lower" Washington - and nice to see some variety.

Opening is Saturday night. Wishing those guys luck.

I'm shocked. I have nothing against cigar bars, in fact, I kind of like them, but, I thought I'd see anti-smoking lobby's (especially parents) trying to squash this one. I guess being one block from Atlantic Ave is better then being two or five blocks from Eastern Parkway.

I have nothing against cigar bars, either (fond memories of my grandfather), but are there enough cigar smokers in the area to support this financially?

Maybe cigarette smokers can go too? When cigarettes were first banned in bars I thought I remembered people floating the idea of cigar bars as a way around the rule. I don't smoke anymore, but the idea of having a drink and a smoke inside at the same time sounds wonderful. :)

Update: the place is actually called "Brooklyn Blew Smoke Cigar Room". Nice window foil went up yesterday.

Their commenters seem cautious about its success, as am I.

Is that vent outside the cigar lounge blowing the smoke outside in the street on to us poor non smoking people?
