Studios/1 Bdrm Apts for rent

Im looking to rent a studio/1 bdrm apartment near the Franklin subway stop-eastern parkway to st. marks give or take a few blocks. I currently live in the area and need to find a new place, and I love the nieghborhood. Are there housing posts on this site that I am missing or any other sites to check?? Ive been on craigslist lately but theres not a whole lot for the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ads like that usually are on the classifieds board here -- be sure to look there. There aren't often a lot of them, but it's worth checking.

I know this is way after the fact, but--

I'm moving out of my studio at 159 Eastern Pkwy (btw Washington and Underhill). I was paying $800, and its rent stabilized. I don't know if it will be shown right away--they have been renovating many of the apartments as they vacate.

I rented it from Marjorie Thompson--her office is a few blocks down Washington on the west side of the street.

do you happen to know how many square feet? Also is the kitchen seperate?

No separate kitchen unfortunately. There is a main room which is 16 X 12 ft, and a little entryway which has a closet and the door to the bathroom. The entryway is about 4X3. There is also a large closet in the main room.

do you know if marjorie is still listing your studio? i called her yesterday, but haven't heard back. i am on the hunt for a studio for $800 in that area, and found one that i love but it is on pacific next to the armory/homeless shelter and i'm a bit leery. any leads would be appreciated...i just found this site and i'm going to post asap!

You can also walk around the neighborhood. Sometimes "for rent" signs are posted on doors/windows of brownstones--I think there are a few up around me--Dean b/w Franklin & Bedford.

I have a friend living there. The building seems really nice.

It was always ok, and now its getting nicer. They just fixed the front door and intercom. The toilets break often, but that was my only complaint.

My lease just ended yesterday, so it has not been shown yet. I turned in my keys today
