Competing Green Carts on Washington Eastern Parkway

Anyone else notice we now have not one, but two fruit vendors that seem to be in direct competition with each other on Eastern Parkway (near Washington).

I find it a bit odd.

Then again some might find it odd that i find it odd...

I saw this too! The cart that's closer to Washington is the same friendly guy from last year, and the cart that's a little closer to the subway entrance is run by 1-2 women who are also very nice.

I first saw the women setting up their cart on the weekend of March 9th. Since the other cart wasn't there, I originally thought that they were replacing him. They brought a spray bottle so you could clean your fruit right after purchasing if you wanted to eat it on the go.

When I saw them, their new cart had a slightly different inventory than the guy from last year (herbs, kale, more veggies as well as some fruit) so maybe they can co-exist?

Does the city give fruit carts territory? Or is it just a license to vend anywhere?

It seems like the city gives vendors a lic to operate in one or more boroughs

This morning and a few mornings last week, I only saw last year's vendor. Either the women show up a little later, or they've moved.
