Pacific and Franklin- what's it like at 5:30 AM?

Hey all, my running group is going to be meeting up for early morning weekday runs in the vicinity of Frankin Ave and Pacific Street. For me, getting there would necessitate running from my place in Park Slope. I'd have to start my run around 5:00 AM, would go down Prospect Park West, make my way to Vanderbilt Avenue and then to Atlantic. I'm used to early morning running in PS but don't know much about Crown Heights. Is running solo in the vicinity of Pacific and Franklin before dawn a sensible move or am I crazy? Any impressions of that block and the surrounding area are much appreciated. Thanks!

I would suggest you not run on Atlantic just because that will be a bit desolate and it's kinda ugly and generally unappealing. I would go instead up(north) Prospect Park West to Grand Army Plaza, right (east) on Eastern Parkway to Franklin, and then left (north) on Franklin. That's the prettiest route. More people will be out running on Eastern Parkway than on Atlantic, so you'll have company and along Franklin, I would imagine some stores might be close to opening making it safer?

I'd agree with Tateinbk. Also, the medians are wide giving you a good opportunity to see what is in front of you and going on around you. Plus, there is a more traffic (car and foot) on EP meaning you won't be on any desolate streets. Franklin won't have as many people on it, but you'll get some folks heading to the train station walking up Franklin as well.
