ILFA's got a guest post delving deeper than usual into Crown Heights, with events and changes on Kingston Avenue over the past year: http://ilovefranklinave.blogspot.com/2013/04/guest-post-year-in-life-of-kingston.html

As we have been discussing, Kingston is next to receive massive investment.

The vacant properties on Nostrand are in generally good repair, but being warehoused by landlords for tenants.

The vacant properties on Kingston are in bad shape, and are awaiting buyers who can make large investments to bring them on line....

I hope everyone can make the fair on May 18th: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/topic/may-18-2013-kingston-aves-weekend-walk

What a really nice recap. I watched as all of these changes and events happened, but it seems much more impressive when you consider that they happened over the span of a single year. Here's to another year of progress and continued improvements in quality of life for all!

I have the feeling we are merely witnessing the pre-game show. Based on the prices that residential properties are currently being sold for, I expect the business changes in 2014 on Nostrand and Kingston to be huge.

The businesses mix usually changes AFTER the residential mix.

Article re: Business mix not changing at the same rate as the neighborhood.

Note, sometimes, the long term businesses are simply unable to meet the "preferences" of the new residents. The obstacles are insurmountable.
