Do I live in Clinton Hill??

I'm moving to an apt right on top of the Bedford-Nostrand Avenue G stop. I have no idea what neighborhood this is- I've been told Clinton Hill, Fort Greene and a number of others. I want to be able to tell people where I'm moving!

Also- I'm moving in with a coworker and have only been to the place a few times during the day- it seems like an OK area but I havnt been there at night. Can anyone clue me in? I'm moving from 7th Ave Park Slope so everything seems ghetto in comparison to this froofy shit...

yep, that's bed stuy. you could maybe sell clinton hill if you apply yourself, but you're definitely not in fort greene.

Hi. My husband and I are moving to Clinton Hill (Gates and Grand) and love our apt and the bldg. We have not been there at night and I wonder about me walking home/going out alone late. Can anyone give any input to a street savvy, yet skinny white girl?!

Be careful without being paranoid. Be friendly without being chipper. Be alert to your surroundings and if you're walking around at night see if you can get someone to walk with you. Also, get good locks on your doors b/c you're more likely to be burglarized than attacked, even though people always overlook that.

Lots of realtors have recently been calling areas of Bed-Stuy Clinton Hill or Clinton Hill East because of the stigma Bed-Stuy has for being a bad/tough nabe.

I live in this so called Clinton Hill East/Bed-Stuy border and it's really not that bad. Sure the neigborhood has a stigma(Do or Die Bed Stuy) but it's come a long way. It is the hood but coming up espcially with Manhattan pricing folks out and the impending stadium... This summer saw the beauty of kids playing in Von King Park, music, dance , and theatre performances, and even the Brooklyn's Best Festival.

i think that technically it depends on what side of bedford you live on. one side of the street is clinton hill, the other side, bed-stuy - "do or die".

I live on lafayette between bedford and nostrand (about 3 doors down from beddford, on that side. Im basically right across lafayette from the chinese/japanese place. I'm seeing that it really depends on what map you look on as to where I actually live- some say right in the heart of clinton hill, some say heart of bed stuy, some say border.

Either way, I really love it here!

Technically Classon is the border of Clinton Hill on that side. Some now consider Franklin to be the border. Anything past that is definitely Bed Stuy. I live directly on the corner of Bedford, and I consider it to be Bed Stuy. Nothing to be embarassed about by living in a great place.

Are you sure that isn't actually Bed Stuy? Grand is surely Bed Stuy. Anyway, no idea what your skinniness has to to do with anything. Also, if you really are in Clinton Hill, its not exactly the ghetto. Its pretty middle class and full of white people. So.... are you worried your white neighbors will want to give you a beatdown because you're thinner than them?

I thinks that's still Clinton Hill, but it's right on the border of Bed Stuy. That area is rapidly getting gentrified. There is a couple of new restaurants and a new bar near that corner. Vinnie and Ollie's is near there and Mike's is easy walking distance. You have to be careful as the "Grand Steet Corridor" has a lot of drug activity, but generally it's very safe.

Like the NYC Encyclopedia says, Classon is the eastern border of Clinton Hill. But does anyone know why the boundaries of Bedford-Stuyvesant aren't Bedford and Stuyvesant Avenues? I always figured that this is where the name of the neighborhood came from.

I agree - I remember when people avoided Fort Green then avoided Clinton Hill becuase it was technically across the street from Fort Green ( not the projects)...some people are so fickle! I like nabes with down to earth people (F/G, C/H and B/S has enuf of each) Didn't feel any real connectedness in P. Slope - the Slope lacks spirit....thats the best way I can describe it.

I noticed that no one asks about houses of worship on this site...or did I miss it?

Any recommendations for an spirited house of worship...please no Episcopal or Catholic (nothing against them) they just don't keep me interested or awake that early in the morning.
