So the city provides hundreds of them for the Brooklyn Marathon but zero for the West Indian Day parade. Hmmm...I wonder why.

Are you sure the city is providing (paying for) the toilets, and not the admission fee charged to the runners?

I would hate for the city to mandate the WIDP organizers pay for toilets for the WIDP, it might effectively cancel the free event.

$55 for members and $75 for non members seems about right

There are actually porta-johns along the parade route. They bring them in by the tractor trailer full.

whynot, that totally makes sense. would be great if the sponsors of the parade could do the same but may not be feasible. i guess many years of parade-goers trying to get into our building to piss in the foyer has grown on me.

    yup.

I think part of the problem is the WIDP has about a million people who spend the day along about a three mile route (Utica to GAP), whereas the 1/2 marathon has about 25,000 people who spend a few hours dispersed over roughly 13 miles. ...more time is spent at the start and end, of course.

As a result, the latter may have less total pee to collect, and easier logistics in collecting it.

As quick as they appeared, they disappeared.

Here is a photo taken by a friend who is a photographer:

Note, Brooklynian is a lousy medium for photos. Clicking on this link gives the photo more justice: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/977874_10151591509074019_1610541989_o.jpg

    It is simple:

Just have a friend who is a photographer, and tell them that taking such a snapshot would be really excellent.

    Then, take the snapshot.

It's a panorama shot, where the camera stitches together a series of photos for you. I think the new iPhones do this, as does my Fuji X100 with which I took this shot from a similar vantage point last year:
