Believed to be abandoned for over 30 years, work has now begun on this building, 951 Prospect Place, located at the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue.

Hooray! I am glad that building will be getting fixed up.

Yes, the area around Brower Park as well as the park itself is getting lots of attention and investment.

What used to be a park that few people would hang out in, now hosts events like this:

Summer Stage is coming to Brower Park three Fridays in July. All programs are 10:30am - 11:30am.

July 12 -- Javaka Steptoe

July 19 -- JazzReach presents Get Hip!

Get Hip! is a fun, interactive introduction to jazz with the Metta Quintet from New York City that illuminates the art form's cultural origins, concepts about improvisation and creative self-expression and explores the role and responsibility of each individual member of the jazz ensemble and how they all must work together to serve and achieve the collective goal of making great music.

July 26 -- Puppetmobile

City Parks Foundation offers a traveling puppet show, CityParksPuppetMobile, the oldest continually operating company of its kind in the country, which presents free performances and puppet-making workshops in neighborhood parks, recreation centers and schools throughout New York City.

Wow, I thought that place was going down for sure.

I think the one that is even worst shape, on Kingston, will come down.

Nature is presently attacking it.

Friends of Brower Park has done some great work! I first became aware of them with the Christmas tree lighting in 2010, and I think they deserve a lot of credit for the upkeep and programming I've seen since.

I heard that the one on Kingston had just been purchased and will be totally renovated.

That would be great news.

I think the official street address is 115-123 Kingston. The sign on the door says it's now owned by 115 Kingston LLC and that the work is being done by Balfore Construction.
