641 Classon (between Dean and Pacific) wants to become a bar and nightclub.

Readers, I give you the photo below.

It was taken, not very long ago, of 641 Classon, located between Dean and Pacific. Note the state of disrepair it is in. Imagine how long it took for it to reach that state.

Yes, this very same property, is now being considered as a site for a bar, complete with a full liquor lic, live music and a disc jockey.

Someone [Mora & Sosa, Inc] believes that it is worth the while to invest a lot of money into it, because of its proximity to 1000 Dean St (opening Fall 2013), and the other massive demographic changes which have taken place over the past few years.

And you know what? ...they just might be right.

According to an older guy in "Yard Sale," which was open for the first time in about a year, when he moved to New York in the 60's, there used to be great nightclubs all down Franklin. From Fulton to Eastern Parkway. They used to come from Manhattan to go to them.

Knew their used to be night clubs in this area including some good ones. But never heard they were that great.

Given the large number of old commercial buildings we have in the district zoned M-1, and the really big "entertainment venue" to be run by 3rd Ward at 1000 Dean St, it would not surprise me if we ended up with nightclub district of sorts.

Give it 5 years.

BTW, they are scheduled to appear at the CB8 SLA mtg on August 5, 2013.

I walk or ride past here almost every weekday. There's a brand new building on the corner south of there, and an impromptu garbage dump on the north corner. Across the street is Luna's tire shop and a halal livestock shop/butchery. That's Brooklyn!
