Anyone know whats going in @ 774 Wasington? The NYC DOB Permit says renovation for a restaurant on the 1st floor.

Based on the size and contents of the dumpster presently (Aug 1, 2013) in front of this location, it seems as if they are renovating more than just the contents of the first floor commercial space.

...perhaps the basement and floors above are getting renovated.

I have determined that the name of this establishment will be

Yummy Taco

As you may be aware, there is a Yummy Taco on Flatbush and 6th Avenue. As a result, I believe it is safe to speculate that this is:

1. Another location of the chain, or

2. A replacement location because the new Arena has made that location more profitable than a $6 taco meal allows.

A LLC for this location was filed back in May, about the same time construction began.

Sept 21: A Yummy Taco awning is now present.

Ughhh! I saw the awning this am. Why?? We have Muertos, Kimchi Grill, Gueros and Maya Taqueria all within a few blocks.

the Yummy Taco near the arena is now closed:

Although I doubt I will ever eat there, "our" new Yummy Taco on Washington has yet to open.

Yummy Taco is delicious in a Frito Pie kinda way. Muertos' burritos kill, Gueros has the best Mex tacos, and Kimchi Grill will forever be #1 in my heart. Yummy lands somewhere in the greasy hungover, i-absolutely-realize-this-isn't-good-for-me-yet-i-want-it-anyway place. Don't count Yummy out!!

For better or worse, Yummy Taco is now open on Washington. It's Grand Opening seems to have been over the weekend.
