For any fans of Prospect Park you may enjoy the new book by David Colley called, "Prospect Park: Olmsted and Vaux's Brooklyn Masterpiece." It has made for an excellent coffee table book at my place (plenty of beautiful pictures) and now I have more then a few historical facts I can share the next time I'm showing out-of-town guests around the park.

Here's a NPR interview that tells you a little more about the book. Enjoy.

Ah! That's why Brooklyn is rightfully called God's Country!

If I was back in God's Country, I'd be strolling thru Prospect Park right now listening to some form of classical guitar music. At the moment I'm listening to WBAI-FM online. But how nice it would be to listen to it while taking in the fresh air at the Park! :)

lots of new construction going on in Prospect Park:

While this modernizes the area, you wonder if the good old character of the Park is being changed for the worse.

The ice skating rink really needed an upgrade, and the lakeside was pretty decrepit as well.
