In part because It Takes a Village (located off Classon Ave) recently closed, a group of parents are looking to open a new play space for young children:

Our vision is to create a community play and gathering space for children and their families, located at 615 Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Operating as a membership-based organization, we will offer a safe, fun, creative, and nurturing environment for children of all ages, while providing a welcoming space where members are invited to come together under one roof, to build a true community of families.

In order to make this happen we need commitment from 25 families in the neighborhood. Read more to see how your family can help.

This playspace would be directly across the street from the brewery development site:

I'm glad you posted this. I was at the library today with my 2 kids (ages 3 & 5) and was given a flyer for this but lost it before I got home. I'm very interested.

Update: This space was too ambitious.

However the parents are moving forward at 636 Classon, a former hair salon near the corner of Dean.

Projected opening on March 1st, according to this in-depth article:

What do you get when you put about a dozen new mothers and their energetic babies into a space the size of a hair salon Mommy Power, of course. Maria Sigourney, Jessica Alonso and Marie Clevering recently harnessed that very Mommy Power when they formed The Stomping Ground, a community and gathering space for children and their families.

Does anyone know why it didn't go through in the Franklin Ave space? Anything else happening in there? Such a cool little building.
