Allan Gerovitz - help with finding apartment

Can't remember who asked, but there is this guy named Allan Gerovitz - the Maven of Rentals - that helped us find a place. A truly truly unique bird, but is ambitious and gets the job done fast.

I'm confused about where the thread here has gone. I hope that my suggestion for a realtor was not taken in some negative spirit. I am an Allan Gerovitz fan and was merely ending folks his way. By calling him a unique bird only meant that he was a colorful, uncommon individual. Nothing bad in that. I truly apologize if somehow that was misconstrued.

Um, by not taking on a user name and not referencing any specific spot where someone was interested in information on brokers, you gave everyone the impression that you ARE Allan Gerowitz, trying to drum up business for yourself with a not very ingenious ruse. That's all.

OK, I see your point. I'm new to these boards and had no idea. Thanks for the clarification.

For the record, I went to Allen when I was looking for an apartment four years ago and found him to be an obnoxious, out-of-control lunatic. He showed us places that were way out of our stated price range, berated us about our low incomes, and seemed more interested in proving what a big macher he was in the neighborhood than actually finding us a place to live. We ended up finding a place through Craigslist. I guess if eccentricity is your primary criterion in a real estate broker, he's your man. Otherwise, beware.

Jeez, what an absolute prick. I'm glad to see my initial impression of this douchebag was correct. After reading the Observer piece I am now convinced you have to BE an asshole to work with this guy.
