New Q train coming

Just got an alert from Trent regarding the new Q trains --- As noted on his blog, Regional Geographic, the Q Train of the Future is upon us:

"It was bright and had a red LED on front of it. At first I thought it was a misplaced 6 train, but then it came closer."

"... I looked inside and things were still shrink-wrapped; there were Print Shop Pro signs that said 'Test Train - not in service.' Inside was like you would expect. Not the L style with the barely-informative 3-color LED panels but the normal 4,5,6 kind with the regularly informative one-color strips and lighted maps."

"There were other fantastic things on the train. The first couple of cars had flatscreen CRTs that had screen savers, scrolling [Windows] 95-style, that said 'SUPER.' And boy were they, because they had an octopus worth of cables going in and out of their boxes..."

Oh, but I'll miss the ugly yellow and orange trains! There are so many more seats on them, and the different colors clearly demarcate what is supposed to be one seat, so that people don't take up too much room...

i am more on the 2/3 line, but so many people can't help but take up mutiple seats. i am not saying this is o.k.... but it is funny to see how many peoples' butts literally take up 2.5 seats, for example. i usually end up on the seat bump coming home from the city, so personally i am not a fan.

I'm actually a fan of the one long bench seat with no bumps. if I can tell that everyone is taking 2 extra inches of space and that if they all compressed I'd have enough room, I just sorta start wedging my ass onto the bench when we're at a station stop. the second the train speeds up, everyone slides, compresses, and whammy, I've got a seat! this is especially helpful when dealing with men who are convinced they have elephantitis of the balls.

i always thought they needed wheel barrows to carry around what some of these idiots have. they spread out legs take up like 2 seats!!! but i love the term elephantitis of the balls. man i'm so gonna steal that one :).

hah. the double wide stroller people don't tend to take the F with their strollers. never even seen one on the train.

the only thing i see on the train all the time is that crazy man with the electric guitar and the amp, the one who sings.

Isn't it easier to say "IRT"? I miss those handles too.
