There were fliers circulating at Habana Outpost this summer about a yoga place opening on S.Portland. Does anyone know anything about it?

There's a place with yoga classes on Myrtle somewhere near Washington that's opening in january, I think...I forget the name, I think it's something like "Move With Grace." They also have pilates and various dance classes -- including belly dancing.

I think that's Lucky Lotus. From what I understand, their teachers are from all different backgrounds. Anyone have any feedback on them?

I haven't tried the ones mentioned above but I have been to Yin Yang Yoga on Myrtle between Sanford and Nostrand. The classes there have been quite enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone who is closer to the Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy border.

It's sad to hear that Yoga People on Fulton is closing (its lease with Crunch expired.) I hope they find a new location in the area.

I tried a class at Lucky Lotus Yoga last week with Yianni. It was really good. The person at the reception let me know that all of the instructors have very different styles, so I can only speak for the one. I will definitely go back to his class and to try others. It's a very nice tranquil place.
Yianni teaches a more advanced class where he doesn't explain the basics, so beginners beware.

Hey folks -- just happened to come across this blog and would like to put it out there that I am a Clinton Hill resident who teaches Yoga both at Lucky Lotus Yoga and at Move With Grace. Lucky Lotus has been around for a couple of years, it's a nice, calm space with a decidedly vinyasa (flow Yoga) character, lots of good teachers (me too!). Move With Grace is a brand new (5 weeks old) venture that combines Yoga, dance, kids' movement and other kinds of movement classes. It's a very down to earth vibe and it's still developing. If you are into early mornings, we have Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings vinyasa at MWG (with yours truly), as well as after work classes, and prenatal and Iyengar classes. Lucky Lotus doesn't have early morning but there is meditation and some great workshops to choose from as well. Check out www.luckylotusyoga.com and www.movewithgracestudio.com. As for me, I'm at MWG on Mon., Wed. & Fri. from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m., and at Lucky on Saturdays from 5 - 6:30 p.m. (I also teach privately.) Would love to see you in class!

Nicole at Move With Grace is an Anusara-trained teacher. She teaches Saturdays from 1:30 to 3 p.m., as well at Tuesday and Thursday nights from 9 - 10:30 ("midnight/aromayoga"). I haven't tried her classes myself. Please feel free to post comments, both pro and con, about teachers/classes you check out (mine too!). I don't think there's always enough feedback from students about what would make them come back to classes, and I think teachers need to know and be more responsive to what students want. Peace!

I went to Lucky Lotus this week. Had a class with Matthew. He was very good - the class was challenging. The only thing I found strange was that his corrections were kind of at odds with the corrections I've recieved from the fine folks at East Yoga (in the village) and at Park Slope Yoga Center. I do plan to go back to try each of the teachers because of the great location and the clean, bright space.

Could you give us some examples? (I'm fascinated by this sort of thing.)
