Has anyone been to Grab, the new replacement for the south slope "Blue Apron"? I noticed is just opened, but didn't have the chance to stop in yet. I'm very curious.

Well, I went into GRAB today and was pleasantly surprised to find the shop almost exactly like it was as Blue Apron. The main differences were that the walls were painted orange, some of the dispalys were reversed to the other side of the room, and there seemed to be more locally-made (Manhattan/Brooklyn) goods being resprented, rather than imported goods. I'm so happy I can still run across the street to get a last minute baguette or other goumet goodie. :D

me, too! hubby stopped in there today and picked up some cheeses and a loverly ciabatta. he liked the staff, and he said that in terms of layout the place seems more streamlined. i am so relieved -- the thought of losing Blue Apron made me sad. now i'm happy again! (doesn't take much to make my day :D/ )

There was a nice article about GRAB on Gothamist recently:

we were there yesterday, and it seems about the same. still got lots of killer cheese, salami, specialty foods, $3 single serve sheeps mile yogurts, etc. not the place to stock up on basics, but a great place to blow some dosh on olive tapenade, or kale empanadas, etc.

    Subject: NOT TOO NICE

MY HUSBAND AND I WENT THERE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. WE WERE REALLY EXCITED TO GET SOME GOOD SNACKS FOR LUNCH. HOWEVER, THE STAFF SEEMED ANNOYED AND UNHELPFUL. THEY WANTED TO HELP THE OTHER COUPLE IN THE STORE AND NOT US. WE WERE OFFENDED, TO SAY THE LEAST.

I love GRAB!! I thought they were much friendlier than Blue Apron. I just have to beware of all their English chocolates and, ahem, biscuits. I'd also like to say how much I loved the wine store next to it; which was NOT, to my embarrassment; Big Nose Full Body. Whoops!! They said they get that all the time. NIce folks, all of em.
