Park Slope Craftsman store?

Walked by the Park Slope Craftsman store today and it looks like it's being emptied out. Anyone know what's going in there?

Or what's going into the old Aquarium space on 9th?

Dunkin' Donuts. YES, right next to the Tea Lounge.

    Sigh.

South Slope could really use some better retail and restaurants.

Won't that just make the dunkin' donuts look really crappy? Mmmm...bad coffee and saturated fat rolled into little fried rings! And plastic seating, you say? Yipee!

DUNKIN DONUTS? Seriously? Who is the landlord with the complete lack of imagination? And how pissed off must the DD owner on 5th be about that one?

    Subject: what goes around...

Not to mention which, the space next to the aquarium USED to be a DD itself. WTF?

I know from a reliable source that it will not be a Dunkin Donuts, or as my family calls it Dunkin Doo Doo.

now, i'd be happy with a krispy kreme, but that's a whole other thread

regardless, does your reliable source know what's coming there?

Thank God. I had this horrible vision of Dunkin Donuts taking over both the PS Craftsman storefront and the Grace storefront next door to it making it a double wide.

Please let us know what's coming, if you can.

I can't imagine a dunkin donuts going in there but it makes me laugh thinking about people who can't stand corporate stores and can't stand the tea lounge trapped between the two like a deer in the headlights.

Anyone know if Park Slope Craftsman went out of business or relocated? I could really use some of their skills right now....

As nice as all the cute tea and coffee places are and upscale boutiquey shops... is that *all* park slope's going to be (aside from the usual delis and restaurants)? I never went in Park Slope Craftsman but it just seems like store after store *like* that can't make it. We all think oh, park slope is so great, but you can't imagine how in three years, it can become very antiseptic and more homogenized unless something changes in the mindset. I went to the Forum that the Park Slope Civic Council held about 'where goes the neighborhood.' The director at Fifth Avenue Committee said landlords have to think about what their "values" are. Okay... is that really going to happen without something making them think/feel that's what they should do? Why should they if everyone else is NOT?

It's like the Park Slope Courier and all the Brooklyn Courier newspapers were bought by Rubert Murdoch. Couldn't the Park Slope Courier owners, who owned the paper for many many years, have found a different new publisher?

    Yeesh!

Either here or on Brownstoner, someone said that the owner had died. They are definitely out of business.

The family has closed the business. The owner died about 3 years ago. Space has been rented to Otto, the clothing store currently on 10th Street above 7th Ave.

DD is moving in? Thank God. Waiting on the Tea Lounge line stinks. Maybe now I'll be able to get my coffee in under ten minutes.
