However, in this context, it was not acting as a present participle. In general, present participles are preceded by the verb "to be" as in the sentence "I am using grammar incorrectly." Your "being" was a gerund. Furthermore, in a list of "how to piss off a park slope resident" in which every listing began an imperative verb, including two of your own examples (#52 and #55), the use of the gerund was (at a minimum) inconsistent.

Please stick to grammar on the grammar thread.
Shilling is discussed on Board Admin, located at the bottom of the index.

    The gym shiller?
Is that what I'll be called from now on?
Well, I guess , I could be called worse, like Liberal, Communist, Yuppie Scum, Park Slope Scum, that's popular in Bensonhurst. Not so bad considering.

I've also been called greaseball, greaseback, wetback, scumlord, slimelord, sleazelord, wacko. Let's see what else? certifiable, incompetent, nuts, and any other derogatory comment one has for a businessman.

MOD NOTE: The last paragraph above (from "I've also..." to "...for a businessman") was added after the replies below and are not part of the original post.

Maybe anytime you offer your heartfelt recommendations to the citizens of Park Slope, we can insert a link to this post so they can see your true feelings about them.

    Ahh,
    To be loved.

Seeing as how I was raised in PS, I think I can make fun of myself, and not take it so seriously.

Getting back to grammar, when I logged into MySpace today I was urged to check out Marilyn Manson's "If I Was Your Vampire". Finally, the "shock rocker" actually managed to horrify me.
