Yeah, I noticed that also! I hope they don't stretch themselves to thin though. They're under staffed as it is and I want the same guy doing my burgers each time. Not a newbie they hire. Mummmm I loooooooove their fries.....

Fantastic. Now I can get my carcinogenic, charred-to-a-crisp veggie burger at lunchtime as well.

Never setting foot inside Bonnie's again. Ever.

Ok I'm totally curious now. You've spoken of this catfish burger before. Tell me more! =P~

Is it breaded? Pan fried or grilled? Fresh? Delish? toppings??
Better than a fish taco?? he he

Did I mention I love this catfish burger? MUST be well done. Potential ookey if it's not.
Pan-fried, not breaded, comes on a sesame bun with garlic aoli, crack fries on the side.

Perfect for when you want something lighter than the burger. On that tip, their salads aren't so shabby either. Veeeerrrrrry garlicy babaganoush. Not child-friendly.

If you're ever at LA Taqueria and they have fish tacos special GET THEM. The sauce is great. Spicy great.

Thanks for the review pitu. Sounds delish, I'll try it next time.

As far as the Taqueria goes, is that the one on 7th ave, has one side for burrito take out and the other side for eating in?
I would looove a fish taco.

yeah, that one. @7thAve and Berkeley or thereabouts
but it's not there all the time, unfortunately
fish tacos are hard to come by around here . . .

I prefer Rachel's (Taqueria's sister restaurant on 5th Ave.) since it's cheaper and less crowded at peak times - plus they ALWAYS seem to have the fish taco platter on special. I'm totally hooked on that thing. No better deal in town in my opinion. Two people can have a great meal for less than twenty bucks!

On the fish taco subject, I've also heard raves about the ones at Bar Reis but I've never personally tried them.

I've never been there because they haven't been open for lunch... at least the few times that I've wandered over there on weekdays.

Bonnie's was always open on the weekends for lunch - it's M-F at 1pm that's new.

Rachel's has the fish tacos all the time?
Problem is, every time I've had food from there it's less than what I'm used to at LA Taqueria. Which makes no sense since it's the same people with the same menu. Did Rachel's get better in the last few months, or have you always liked them, Slopehead?

Same here Pitu. I've eaten at both and for some reason I liked La Taqueria more. So did the BF. Must be different cooks. But I'll give it a shot again, hummm maybe tonight. Jeeze louise, you guy are making me fat!!!
 Oh well.. all in the name of science and research.

Maybe it depends on what dish you order, but my experience has been that Rachel's is very much on par with Taqueria. I'm a veggie so I can't comment on any meat dishes (well aside from the fish tacos). I also prefer it because it's less crowded during peak times and the backyard is nice in the warm months. Both places are pretty much assembly line style cooking with the same ingredients and menu, so I'd be surprised if there were any major differences.

Anyway, I was at Rachel's again tonight and got my fish taco platter for $5.25. Mmm, mmm, mmm!

oh, yeah. I've only ever been to bonnie's on weekends (that whole job in midtown thing fucks with my lunch in brooklyn schedule).

The Ozzie's Paradox! ie: somewhat decent coffee on 7th is made horrendously undrinkable by same proprietor on 5th.
