I need to find a good bowling alley, preferably cheap around PS or where's the best deal for a game in Brooklyn or Manhattan. I can't resist a good pair of bowling shoes.

Isn't Billiards building a bowling alley? Is Melody Lanes still open?

I was just at Melody Lanes last night. Games were $5 a piece and shoe rentals were $3. Pitchers of Widmer were $12. A much cheaper night than bowling in Manhattan. A nice mix of people, too.

Thanks guys, I'll have to check them out. Knowing there's a decent place to bowl is almost as exciting as buying a sno cone.

I love Meloday Lanes, have been going there for a few years now. Something has happened recently though... I think the other bowling alley in Brooklyn closed down... and every time we have gone it has been SO CROWDED. We were there around 10pm on a Saturday a few weeks ago, and we didn't get a lane until after midnight! It was complete madness in there... It sucked a little, I liked it better when it seemed like a low-key secret.

Went to Melody for the first time on Saturday night, we didn't have to wait but by 9 o'clock there was already an hour wait and they don't take reservations. The lanes were nice, although I enjoy a better ball selection, but I think most of the good ones were in use (I like the lighter ones).

Maybe I forget what it costs to play in Manhattan, but the first round was 9.50 per person including the shoes, and $6.50 per game per person thereafter, I didn't see if there were any weekday promotions but it would be nice because that's a bit expensive (I think?). However the Widmer is such a nice beer that I basically forgot about the money and just had a good time.

NB: I totally thought it was going to have a really old school 60s vibe
    :(
