Someplace better than craigslist?

Hey all,

I haven't posted in a long time, but the perfect 4/4 beat created by the six -- count 'em, six -- leaks in my roof reminds me that when my lease runs out in September, it'd be nice to have a new place and a new landlord. I really want to stay in this neighborhood, but from looking on Craigslist it seems like there are only a few brokers dealing in this area and most of the apartments listed as Prospect Heights are actually Crown Heights (I know the debate rages, and I mean no offense to the CH people, but I have a bunch of friends in PH and PS and am really lazy/not eager to walk the extra few blocks).

Does anyone know a better place to find apartments listed? Has craigslist blown up too much?

You know, sometimes the best way to get a good place is to start early and let EVERY coworker and friend you know that you're looking. Seems all the good places I've ever found were through word of mouth from either a coworker or friend.

I didn't find anything better than craigslist in the 10 months I was looking for my current apartment. I checked it constantly every day and finally got lucky. I was the first one to see a no-fee rent stabilized 1 bedroom in my price range. As annoying as it sounds, you really do have to just keep looking and you'll find something. Good luck!
