Photography Classes

Hi,

My boyfriend and I are relatively new to NYC and are interested in taking an amateur photography class this summer. Is there anywhere in or around Park Slope that you might recommend checking out?

not sure, but if you check Meetup.com and put in your zip code, I am fairly certain you'll find a photography group and somebody there can give you suggestions.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has a class that starts in May:

The Witching Hour: Photography at Dusk

The time right before and right after sunset has been referred to as the witching hour; the air turns still, and nature can appear at its most impressive. We will explore ways to use this light to the best effect in the beautiful setting of the Garden as summer approaches. Advanced techniques such as selective focus, long exposures and fill flash will be explored, with class time spent discussing composition and technique. This class is intended for people who are comfortable using their cameras and want to extend their knowledge. Film or digital. Bring examples of your work to first class, along with your camera.

Not in PS but I just took a beginning class at FIT (fitnyc.edu) through continuing education that was pretty good. You could also try Pratt

my husband took a class from them last fall and really liked it, though it was a bit too 'intro' for him ("this is how you focus"). it sounds like this one assumes you know a bit more.

Try the Camera Club of NY at Union Square. I know it's not in Park Slope, but you can hop on the train. They've been around for about 100 years, but they may be folding soon because of the digital age! : ( Also, there's ICP. Again, in the city...not Brooklyn.
