I can see them out my window and they're gorgeous--what's the occasion?

They were awesome. I was wondering the same thing, trying to figure out what holiday falls around this time of the year...Thai New Year? Nah. Zimbabwe Independence? Denmark flag day? The Queens birthday?

I checked Ellis Island's website and yesterday was the anniversary of the day the most people went through, so it might have been to commemorate that, but they didn't mention fireworks on the website. Just the celebration.

But, why were all the balloons floating by my window (like, at least three dozen)?

I swear, I was waiting for a unicorn to appear on the fire escape last night after all that randomness.
