I pass that place all the time and have never seen anyone IN there. I hope some people actually know what the store is about. Looking forward to responses.

A few years ago, I was seeing someone local for reiki. I had a fairly serious health problem at that time, and the reiki practitioner strongly urged me to go to Essence of Life and talk to the woman who owned the store; she claimed that the woman could diagnose me just by putting her hands on me. I never went, because the reiki was a pretty freaky experience in itself and I felt like I'd dabbled as much as I wanted to in alternative medicine. That's all I know.

Rose I totally understand what you are talking about the Reiki thing having potential to be freaky. many years ago in a session my physical body lifted off the table during a session. Beyond explanation.
But doesn't it look like this essence of Life Place is selling products as well.. geez I might have to drift in there and find out for myself.

Gotta be careful who you have Reiki performed by. It can be a very emotionally intimate experience.

Jillianna..No kidding. At the time this incident happened it was a new practitioner that was my friend. She needed to practice on people.. Well I volunteered. To explain.. this friend was involved in the spiritualist church in d.c. and no doubt a psychic. She was as freaked as I was when this happened (the elevation of the physical body) but because of her experience in other disciplines she was fine and handled it well and on my end my trust in ehr was so supreme it all was good. Only after when we discussed it I freaked out realizing what a precarious position that was. As time went on my frined did become a master practitioner of Reiki and nothing like that ever happened to her again. That incident was a notice in one discipline unbalkanced because she was a master in other discuplines.

Geez I know I just bored any one who read this that is not in to this "hocuspocus".. forgive me and don't shoot!!!

I think they're a mafia front hocking stolen dish washers. There carefully constructed cover is a new age, ex hippie reiki shop selling used bongs and out-of-print Whole Earth catalogues. Seriously!

Actually, sorry to spoil the fun - I think they're really new age, ex hippies, but selling holistic medicine online and via mail order. Boring!!!

But do they really sell bongs? This town could use a good head shop!

Flexi have you lived in the hood long enough to remember the store on 9th between 5th and 6th called Shop Therapy? It had some odd items in there, including massage oils and paraphenalia (if you get my drift) and the front of the store was like a booth that sold and bought silver and gold. And there were all kinds of pipes and stuff related to the weed. I think it might have either been where the icecrea/sushi place is or perhaps Scenes (a shlock clothing store).
Shop Therapy .. that was a loss to the hood.. gave the place some character.

I went in there once for supplements when I first moved here. That place is STRANGE! They kind of hussled me out of there and didn't even have what I was looking for (which was a pretty basic thing).

One night I walked passed and there was a fire truck and police cars out front. The door was wide open and the woman (specialist?) was shouting and crying hysterically at the cop. "...I don't know what went wrong..." was all I caught. After that, I decided to not go back in there ever again.

BTW, while Shop Therapy is gone from the Slope, the is one in Provincetown on Commercial Street. Full selection of paraphenalia of all kinds! When in P-town...
